Somova

Our houses are in the village of Somova, which lies 12km west of Tulcea, the regional centre. The Parish has a population of 2500.

Somova is surrounded by lakes, Danube flood-plains and magnificent coutryside. All the wonders of the Danube Delta are within easy reach. Local birdlife includes Pygmy Cormorants, Pelicans, Herons, Garganey, Gadwall, Ferruginous Ducks, Marsh Herrier and many more.

The village is very typical of the area, where local fishermen have plied their trade on the lake for centuries.

The village has a variety of shops and pubs all within a few minutes walk.  The local villagers are extremely friendly and hospitable, eager to meet and make friends with new visitors.

Don’t be surprised to get invited in to neighbours’ homes for meals, drinks or barbecues. That is all part of the charm of this lovely village.
